"I was saved in 1978 at the age of 19. In Dec. of 1979 I was invited to attend NTBC by a co-worker and friend. I came with my then girl friend and now wife Shelagh on the 3rd Sunday of the church.
I was the first person baptized in Canada by our Pastor. We were married Nov. 6, 1982.
In October of 1984 God brought a deaf lady to our church through our Academy Staff Member Jackie Bernard. She approached me about picking up this lady as at the time I was driving our church bus.
I began to learn Sign Language to communicate the time for pick up and to help her feel welcome. Soon we were picking up other deaf. Through the next few years as I drove the deaf to church, fellowships and camps, God worked on me to learn more Signs to better communicate.
When Jackie felt called to go to the mission field, I started to become more involved in the deaf ministry and soon became the leader.
In June of 1992 while at the Deaf Baptist Fellowship of America in Rochester NY, I felt God calling me to be more than just a leader, but a Pastor to our deaf people.
He has allowed me to be involved in deaf ministry since then - interpreting, counselling, camps, assisting in new deaf works, etc. I have been privileged to meet many deaf friends through the years."
